WalCDN is a blazingly fast content delivery network (CDN) built specifically for the Walrus Network. Its mission is to accelerate and simplify data retrieval from decentralized nodes, making the user experience as fast and seamless as possible—just like using a traditional CDN.
💭 How does WalCDN work?
WalCDN, retrievals are completely free for users. Instead, the cost of serving the data is covered by the clients who originally stored it. These payments are then distributed to the nodes that successfully deliver the data, creating a sustainable incentive model that rewards participation and performance.
Whether you're a developer building on Walrus or just browsing content, WalCDN ensures that your data arrives quickly and reliably—without any friction.
🚀 Performance improvements
Benchmarks show up to 118.9% improvement in Time to First Byte (TTFB) and up to 169% improvement in Time to Last Byte (TTLB) with the CDN enabled.
To ensure accurate performance comparisons, we conducted a benchmark using 1,000 retrieval iterations. The tests were run against the same aggregator, first without the CDN and then with the CDN enabled. This approach isolates the impact of the CDN on retrieval speed and consistency.
